Cabinet of curiosities. - Lot 146
Cabinet of curiosities. Four-storey wooden showcase opening on two glass doors. It has housed Mr. Bertozzi's cabinet of curiosities for several decades and has evolved over time. If the buyer so desires, and if possible, Mr. Bertozzi can come and reassemble the cabinet at the buyer's home. Dimensions: 140 x 111 x 47 cm. "This cabinet of curiosities has been built up over the years, as a result of discoveries and the desire to place small objects in it which, without knowing why, seemed obvious to me. These include, for example, a camel skull I found in the desert of the Emirate of Ras Al Khaïmah, black magic objects from the Candomblé cult in Brazil, shards of Roman pottery given to me by my Aunt Claudia, and candles brought back by a friend from Mount Athos. I adorned the key with a pendant of Lebanese glassware acquired in Beirut and a chain adorned with pendants featuring 18th-century Spanish coinage."
